Richard Hemmen - President's Award 2001, 2018; Life Member 2019
Richard Hemmen received the BSCE from the University of Washington in 1983. Early in his career he worked with Coffman Engineers, Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire Inc., Dames & Moore, and Anne Symonds & Associates, before joining DCI, Inc. His experience includes work as a licensed special inspector and a geotechnical engineer. In 2018 he established Hemmen Engineering.
He joined SEAW in 1983. In addition to his SEAW Board service as Director 1995-97, he participated actively with the Lateral Forces Committee. The President's Award acknowledged his work on the Refresher Course. He served as Board President of Architects Without Borders Seattle in 2018.
